Imports:

One third of Iran imports comes in the form of machinery and transport equipment; with top products being cellphones, parts and accessories for vehicles, televisions, automobiles, air conditioning units, portable computers, and refrigerators.

The food and live animals group (ex: frozen meet, cereals) has the second largest share with 18%, followed by manufactured goods at 17.8%. Chemicals are the 4 th biggest group with a 13% share, while the miscellaneous manufactured articles group has an 8% share in total value.Exports:

The majority of Iran exports come in the form of mineral fuels and lubricants, with a share of 58%.

Chemicals (i.e. polymers of ethylene, acyclic alcohols) follow with 13%, manufactured goods with 9%, food and live animals with 8%, and crude materials with a share of 5%

As per 2018 data (latest available) China was Iran’s top imports supplier, with a share of 25% in the country’s total imports bill in 2018. The UAE was the second main supplier, with a share of 14%; followed by India, Turkey and Germany with a 6% share each.

Other imports partners in the top 10 list include Switzerland, South Korea, Russia, Italy, and the UK.Exports:

According to Trade map data, the majority of Iran exports (54%) targeted unspecified destinations in Asia and Europe during 2018.

Meanwhile, China has a share of 11%, followed by Iraq with 10%, UAE with 9%, and Afghanistan with a 6% share.
